Jay Chou pertama kali memasuki industri musik ketika dia tampil di sebuah acara pertunjukkan bakat pada tahun 1998 sebagai seorang pianis dan penulis lagu dan ia tampil bersama temannya. Walaupun pertunjukkan mereka tidak luar biasa, para produser bisa melihat bakat Jay yang luar biasa. Akhirnya Jay pun disewa sebagai komposer dan penulis lagu untuk artis lain. Akhirnya pada tahun 2000, Jay merilis album pertamanya yang berjudul "Jay", dimana pada saat peluncuran, albumnya langsung menjadi hit. Sejak itu, jay teratur mengeluarkan album setiap tahun. Album-albumnya mendapat perhatian besar di antara Chinese International-Community Speaking (termasuk China daratan, Taiwan, Hongkong, Malaysia, Filipina, Singapura, Thailand dan Indonesia). Hingga saat ini setidaknya Jay telah menjual sekitar 25 juta rekamannya di seluruh dunia.

Pada tahun 2005, Jay melakukan debutnya dalam dunia akting melalui film Initial D, sebuah seri manga yang populer di Jepang yang diangkat ke layar lebar. Di sana ia berperan sebagai tokoh utamanya, Takumi Fujiwara, dalam film itu Jay mampu menampilkan bakat aktingnya yang juga luar biasa, akhirnya Jay mendapatkan penghargaan sebagai pendatang baru terbaik pada 42nd Golden Horse Award untuk perannya di Initial D. Secara berturut-turut, Jay mulai banyak muncul di layar lebar, yaitu dalam film kolosal Curse of Golden Flower bersama Chow Yun Fat dan Gong Li yang dirilis tahun 2006, juga dalam film drama romantis yang dibintangi dan disutradarai olehnya sendiri, "Secret" yang dirilis tahun 2007. Kemudian Jay merilis film komedi olahraga Kung-Fu Dunk pada tahun 2008. Dalam film yang dibintanginya, Jay selalu mengarang lagu dan menyanyikannya untuk soundtrack film tersebut. Bahkan dalam salah satu film aksi teranyar "Fearless", yang dibintangi oleh superstar kung fu, Jet Li, Jay juga diminta mengarang dan menyanyikan soundtrack dari film tersebut.

Pertama kali suka sama dia pas main film Initial D
kesan cool-nya dapet banget, ngedrift-nya keren

entahlah di situ kan dia ngisi ost Yi Lu Xiang Bei, tapi waktu itu gak tau jay juga penyanyi

Sama... Aku juga sering banget nonton Filem Initial D, Kungfu dunk, Curse Of The Golden Flower
tapi ga pernah tau kalau yang maen itu kakakku tercinta ini....
malah mulai kepo pas dengerin lagunya,,, tapi memang lagu-lagu romantisnya Top...

"Kata Tetangganya, Jay Chou Sudah Menikah"

SUDAH tiga tahun Jay Chou berpacaran dengan Hannah Quinlivan.
Beberapa waktu lalu Jay pernah berujar akan menikah pada Januari 2015, sebelum usianya 36 tahun. Tapi kini beredar kabar bahwa pelantun Qi Li Xiang itu telah menikah.
Seorang tetangga Jay memberi tahu media bahwa mantan kekasih Jolin Tsai itu sudah mendaftarkan pernikahannya pada Mei 2014 kemarin. Hal ini segera mendapat tanggapan dari perusahaan rekamannya, JVR Music.

"Jay pasti akan mengumumkan pernikahannya. Dia pria yang memegang ucapannya. Pegawainya belum menerima informasi apapun tentang pernikahannya," bunyi pernyataan pihak JVR dikutip Asian Pop News (18/8).
Menurut seorang kawan, jika benar sudah menikah bulan Mei, Jay tak perlu repot-repot mengumumkan akan menikah pada Januari. Diduga, tetangga salah paham karena Hannah sering bermalam di apartemen Jay. Tentang persiapan pernikahan, Hannah-Jay dikabarkan sudah menunjuk fotografer Liang Su untuk membuat konsep foto pernikahan. Liang Su sebelumnya menggarap foto pernikahan Vivian Hsu.
