Honda to up power in Bahrain ahead of new spec engine in Spain

McLaren will up the power of its Honda engine again this weekend in Bahrain before introducing a new-spec power unit at the Spanish Grand Prix.

McLaren has not qualified higher than the penultimate row of the grid this year, but has closed on the gap to the front of the grid at each round since the season-opener in Australia. It has been running its Honda power unit detuned to try to ensure reliability, but it is now confident it can up the power again in Bahrain this weekend.

"We know which step we can still get out of this engine, so already in Bahrain we can power up the power unit a little bit and in Barcelona we have another spec coming, so we will keep improving every race," racing director Eric Boullier said. "There was a major step in terms of the reliability package [in China], so there's no issue. This is a good achievement, and now we know we can power up the engine and with the same base we know we have some potential we can unlock with this engine, so it's okay."

However, Boullier would not predict the impact the new updates would have on McLaren's competitiveness, only confirming that the team is still targeting competitive results by the end of the year.

"I'm not saying any dates because every race we bring improvements. The potential of the engine we know is quite high, they have been quite ambitious because we keep repeating it but if you want to beat Mercedes you have to be better than them.

"So we know there is some potential in the engine, there will be a push for the European campaign and even on the car itself we have another strong aerodynamic package coming in Barcelona. The target is we want to be competitive by the end of the season. That means we can prove out the potential from both the engine and the organisation."

Mclaren g pernah menang lagi sejak 2013 ,cuma sekali podium(2-3) di aussie 2014 sebagai hasil terbaik selama 2 tahun terakhir, g punya title sponsor sejak 2014 dan sekarang di belakang g protes tetep berusaha buat menang lagi beda sm RBR tahun ini mereka udah bukan the best of the rest lagi spt tahun lalu cuma fights for poin ngancam keluar

    Raikkonen Tops Session

Kimi Raikkonen led a Ferrari 1-2 in a mixed-up opening practice session for the Bahrain GP on Friday.

The Finn set the pace with a 1:37.827 lap around the 5.412km track, with Sebastian Vettel recovering from an engine problem to end up 0.202s slower.

However, with Valtteri Bottas third ahead of Carlos Sainz, it’s likely the timesheet will bear little relation to how it might appear later in the weekend because the conditions bore little relation to those expected for qualifying and the race

Temperatures nudged 37 degrees C as cars took to the track at 2pm local time, although the track temperature, which stood at 52 deg early in the session, was falling by the time the chequered flag was shown.

It’ll be a whole lot cooler again by the time cars head out for P2 at 6pm – the time Sunday’s floodlit race starts – and as such, the running then should be more representative.

Pacesetters Mercedes completed plenty of laps but Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton ended up 15th and 16th respectively, more than a second off the benchmark time.

An indication of how representative the session was might be drawn from the presence of Fernando Alonso in seventh place, with the Spaniard's McLaren-Honda briefly P1 midway through the session.

His time was soon beaten by Max Verstappen, who wound up sixth for Toro Rosso, while the likes of Force India's Sergio Perez (11th fastest) also headed the timesheets as the Silver Arrows opted to do their own thing.

Eighth fastest behind Alonso was the Sauber of Felipe Nasr, with the top 10 completed by Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull) and Felipe Massa (Williams).

Further down the order, GP2 champion and Lotus reserve Jolyon Palmer headed the Silver Arrows with the 14th-fastest time but there was disappointment for Jenson Button, whose session lastest little more than a lap.

Heading into Turn One, Button's McLaren-Honda was pitched into a spin, with the Englishman soon to be found trudging back to the pits.

McLaren racing director Eric Boullier told Sky Sports F1 that Button's car had suffered an "electrical issue, so the car shut down. It took some time to understand and then it was too late to get back out on track. We hope he will be ready for P2.”

Vettel also spent more time out of his car than in it. He went fastest early on but was told straight afterwards to head back to the pits.

Ferrari mechanics soon had the engine cover off his SF15-T, although the problem was rectified with the Malaysia GP winner returning for the final 15 minutes or so.

Nico Rosberg leads Mercedes 1-2 ahead of Ferraris

Nico Rosberg produced a timely timesheet-topping performance to finish ahead of Lewis Hamilton at the end of the opening day of action in Bahrain.

Five days on from his post-Chinese GP outburst when he accused Hamilton of slowing him down in last weekend’s fight for victory, Rosberg set the P2 pace for the second time in 2015 with the session run under floodlights to simulate the conditions of Sunday's night race.

In therefore more representative cooler temperatures of the early evening in the desert, Mercedes cast aside their low-key P1 performance to take their habitual place at the front of the field. Rosberg’s benchmark lap on the soft tyres of 1:34.647 was 0.115 seconds quicker than the sister Mercedes, although Hamilton could point to a significant amount of lost time through a big lock-up at Turn Eight on his own quickest lap.
Predictably, it was Ferrari who proved Mercedes’ closest challengers and although, on single-lap pace, the SF15-T finished half a second back on the W06, its pace on the longer runs on the soft tyre was again far more comparable - suggesting that the world champions will again have a race-day fight on their hands, even if the night race means the scorching temperatures of Malaysia won't be repeated.

"This evening was very, very valuable and important to do many laps," pacesetter Rosberg told Sky Sports F1. "So it has been good, but the pace of the Ferraris is very worrying. In qualifying we are much quicker, but in the race they are quick."

Like Hamilton, neither Ferrari driver completed error-free laps on their qualifying simulations and as in the first session, it was Raikkonen who ended up as the faster of the two red cars, by a tenth from Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel's day then ended in unusual circumstances for a practice session when he collided with Sergio Perez's Force India coming out of Sakhir's pitlane, an impact which broke his car's front wing.

Although initially appearing to hit out at the Mexican driver over the radio, Vettel said that a brake problem had meant he was unable to slow down sufficiently to avoid the contact and he had sought out Perez to apologise.

"I was braking for Turn One and wanted to let those cars go by then the car stopped decelerating, something broke mechanically on the front right I think," Vettel informed the Ferrari pitwall over the radio.

The stewards immediately announced they were looking into the clash between the two cars, but following the investigation decided to take no further action.

Following the session the stewards also looked into Raikkonen's driving he left the pitlane in the closing stages of P2. Replays showed that Raikkonen effectively jumped the queue at the end of the service road and rounded the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson as it left the Swiss team's garage.

Raikkonen received a reprimand, while Hamilton who had followed the Finn out of the pits avoided investigation.

Meanwhile, the rest of the field will be searching for answers for how they close the pace gap to the top two teams.

On single-lap pace at least, Williams, Red Bull and Lotus actually all finished the day within three tenths of Ferrari as Valtteri Bottas, Daniel Ricciardo and Pastor Maldonado ended the session fifth through seventh respectively.

McLaren, meanwhile, built on their promise of P1 by finishing 12th with Fernando Alonso, although Jenson Button's endured a far more problematic day in the other MP4-30. With an electrical fault spinning him round within one corner of his only timed lap in P1, Button's return to the track in P2 initially lasted just three laps before the car broke down again. The 2009 Sakhir winner did, eventually, complete some more sustained running, although wound up between the Manors down in 19th.

moga2 Ferrari bs kasih tantangan buat Mercedes kali ini

Lewis Hamilton wins Bahrain GP ahead of hard-charging Kimi Raikkonen

Lewis Hamilton extended his lead in the championship to 27 points by taking victory in a tense Bahrain Grand Prix that saw Ferrari put Mercedes under pressure once again.

A battle raged behind Hamilton for most of the race, with Kimi Raikkonen emerging in second place after overtaking Nico Rosberg on the penultimate lap as the Mercedes struggled with a brake problem. Sebastian Vettel was also in the running before being taken out of contention when front wing damage forced him to make a third pit stop for a new nose on lap 36.

Raikkonen's late charge was based on an alternative strategy in which his side of the Ferrari pit wall resisted to match the early pit stops of Vettel and the two Mercedes in front and instead opted for a longer first stint before switching to the mediums in the second stint. He then attacked on the soft tyres in the final stint allowing him to attack the two Mercedes on mediums. Rosberg was undoubtedly hampered by his brakes and ran wide in the first corner of the 56th lap to concede position to Raikkonen's Ferrari in Turn 2. Hamilton also appeared to be struggling with his brakes on the final lap, but had a margin of 3.3s to Raikkonen as he crossed the line.

After returning to the track following his final pit stop for a new wing, Vettel came across Valtteri Bottas and got stuck behind the Williams until the end of the race. He managed to get close on occasion but despite some hopeful lunges he could not make it stick at any of the overtaking points on the track.

Daniel Ricciardo took sixth for Red Bull after his engine blew up in dramatic fashion just before he crossed the line. It left a cloud of smoke for Romain Grosjean's Lotus to emerge from in seventh ahead of an impressive drive by Sergio Perez in eighth. Daniil Kvyat drove from 17th on the grid to ninth and passed Felipe Massa late in the race after the Williams was forced to start from the pit lane after stalling on the grid.

Fernando Alonso finished just one place off the points in 11th, another sign of the progress being made by McLaren-Honda. The impressive Felipe Nasr finished behind the Spaniard ahead of Nico Hulkenberg, who he superbly dispatched on the outside of Turn 4 on lap 35. Marcus Ericsson finished 14th ahead of Pastor Maldonado, who finished despite having heavily-smoking brakes at his final pit stop. The two Manors of Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi rounded off the finishers in 16th and 17th.

Neither Toro Rosso driver made it to the finish. Carlos Sainz was the first retirement of the race with what appeared to be a loose wheel after a pit stop, while Verstappen pulled into the garage on lap 33. The only other non-finisher was Jenson Button, who did not even make the start. McLaren had changed control electronics and energy store overnight but saw something in the data which made it clear the problems of Friday and Saturday had not been fixed, leading to his withdrawal from the race.

    just my 2 cents

First blood to Nico Rosberg at Spanish Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg edged Lewis Hamilton to the fastest time in the opening practice session of the Spanish Grand Prix as Mercedes put down an ominous early marker to the rest of its rivals in Barcelona.

The opening session very much mirrored the start of the season so far, with Mercedes finishing one-two ahead of Ferrari. Rosberg pipped team-mate Lewis Hamilton by just 0.070s but finished the session under investigation after entering the pit lane after on the wrong side of a bollard at pit entry. The German appeared to have taken too much speed through the penultimate corner and had to dive across the red kerb to make the pit lane. After the session the FIA issued the German driver a reprimand, his first of the season.

Behind Hamilton were Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, though both finished a second off Rosberg's headline time in a heavily modified SF15-T. Chief among the changes to the Ferrari were newly sculpted sidepods and new winglets and barge boards to manage the air over the car. Free practice rarely gives a complete picture of how the weekend will follow but it was an impressive start from Mercedes at a race where all the teams focus on bringing upgrades.

McLaren took its new livery onto the track for the first time, accompanied with matching red flo-vis aero paint. Jenson Button seemed unhappy with the balance of the car with its new front wing throughout the session - complaining it was "completely wrong" in the final minutes - and finished 16th behind team-mate Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard finished the session with a spin at Turn 12, although he did not appear to pick up any damage to the MP4-30.

Though optimistic coming into the weekend that Renault had prioritised reliability there were early problems at Red Bull. Ricciardo, already using his fourth power unit ahead of the fifth grand prix of 2015, managed just two installation laps before Red Bull took the engine cover off his car to address a problem inside. Ricciardo eventually returned to the track for another seven laps and finished ninth, two places behind team-mate Daniil Kvyat who was trialling a new shorter nose. The team has been struggling to pass its crash tests with the new nose, but its debut this weekend could see a significant improvement in lap time.

Fellow Renault customer Toro Rosso had an encouraging morning, with rookie duo Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen finishing fifth and sixth respectively. As ever with practice, it is hard to make an accurate reading of headline times with so many unknowns, and Toro Rosso has made a habit of finishing strongly on Fridays this season.

Susie Wolff took Valtteri Bottas' place for the morning session but could only finish 14th, though Williams rarely shows its true pace on a Friday. Felipe Massa broke into the top ten in the other Williams, as did fellow Brazilian Felipe Nasr in the Sauber. Reserve driver Raffaele Marciello finished 12th on his second FP1 appearance of the season.

Reigning GP2 champion Jolyon Palmer finished in 13th for Lotus, with Pastor Maldonado 18th. Force India is braced for a tough weekend in Spain but will be buoyed by Nico Hulkenberg's 11th-place finish, though Perez ended the session just two places ahead of the Manor cars. Will Stevens continued his impressive advantage in the internal team battle at Manor by finishing four tenths up on Roberto Merhi at the foot of the timing screens.

Lewis Hamilton laid down a marker to his rivals as he topped FP2 at the Spanish Grand Prix, four tenths ahead of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.

Hamilton's 1:26.852 was four tenths quicker than Vettel, who managed to split the Mercedes drivers and finish three tenths up on fellow countryman Nico Rosberg. Hamilton's session was not issue-free, however, as he returned to the pits in the final half hour complaining about an overheating seat, something which has been a recurring theme for the world champion this season.

Of most concern to Rosberg will be the seven tenths gap to Hamilton, a man he is yet to out-qualify in 2015. Rosberg was a full half second off Hamilton in the middle sector, suggesting the German made a mistake at some stage on his flying lap and he was also 0.8s off his best time on hard tyres in FP1. Kimi Raikkonen finished fourth, suggesting a Mercedes/Ferrari lock out of the front two rows is inevitable again on Satruday. Notably, however, Mercedes seemed to have the edge over the longer runs at what is a front-limited circuit.

There was a red flag after just 20 minutes when the engine cover of Romain Grosjean's Lotus tore off on the start-finish straight, sending black and gold debris all over the track. The session resumed promptly but it was a worrying failure for the Lotus, which was later confirmed to be due to a failure of the top two bodywork fasteners. The team managed to get him back out in the latter part of the session, with the Frenchman finishing 12th, two places above team-mate Pastor Maldonado.

Jenson Button broke into the top ten for McLaren, which has been a rare sight in any session this season. It is a positive sign for McLaren having brought new parts and an upgraded power unit to Barcelona. Button finished seventh, 1.6s down on Hamilton, though Fernando Alonso could only manage 11th on his quick lap on the medium compound.

Max Verstappen continued Toro Rosso's impressive day by finishing sixth, less than a tenth down on Red Bull's Daniil Kyat. Red Bull has introduced upgrades to this race it hopes will move it towards Williams in the pecking order and Kvyat was seven tenths up on Valtteri Bottas in eighth - though it is rare to see Williams reveal its true hand in either Friday session. Daniel Ricciardo continued to have engine problems, spending much of the session with the engine cover off his car in the Red Bull garage. The Australian emerged late in the session and managed a 1:29.098, but Red Bull will be concerned at more time lost on a weekend it hoped to make a step up the grid.

At the bottom the order read Sauber, Force India, Manor, suggesting the lack of resources of the sport's smaller teams are starting to be felt at a race where upgrades are in plentiful supply.

masi dominan Mercedes or Hamilton? sptnya setelah informasi yg diberikan lewat team radio dibatasi Rosberg jd kesusahan buat ngalahin hamilton

Bottas Vs Kimi, Kimi pake band compund HARD terlalu lama, pit terakhir baru pake medium mungkin kalo dibalik pake medium terakhir baru HARD bisa nyalip si Bottas.
