Criterion recently twitted: "Porsche 918 Spyder. Unveiled Geneva March 2010. Playable in NFSHP 3 days later. A hybrid supercar that does 200mph.".

The 918 is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors (one for each axle) producing an additional 218 hp.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit – Career Preview

There’s been a fair amount of confusion over the progression system used in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit’s Career in recent months. Is it fully open world? Is it menu based? Well, as it turns out, it’s a mixture of the two.

When you first head in to Hot Pursuit’s Career, you’re greeted with an overview of Seacrest County and two events to pick from: a Cop event, Chase 1010, and a Racer event, Roadsters Reborn.

Progress is measured through bounty, with bounty awarded for (but not limited to) your final position, racing skills (like slipstreaming and driving on the wrong side of the road), and placing high on the Autolog speedwall. As you hit bounty levels, of which there are 20 for each side of the law, you’ll unlock new cars, equipment and events.

If you take part in Cop events, you’ll unlock Copy bounty and unlock further Cop events, and vice-versa if you choose Racer events. The two bounty levels are kept separated, so you’ll have to level up in each to unlock further events, though you can switch back and forth between the two at any time. Bounty can also be earned while playing multiplayer games, and is transferable into your Career..

Rather than simple races and chases, there are multiple types of race events to take part in too, including Hot Pursuits, Races and Time Trials for the Racers, and Hot Pursuits, Interceptors and Rapid Responses for the Cops, each of which we’ll go into much greater detail in in a later post. Your final position will also earn you a bronze, silver or gold medal, with the better medals offering more bounty.

So what about the open world? Well you can choose to dive straight into Freedrive at any point while on the event screen, though you won’t be able to earn bounty, damage your car or be engaged in pursuits while in this mode. Ultimately, it’s only useful for taking Dreamshots, beauty photos that can be shared with friends on the Autolog wall, or for taking a break from the intense chases.

EA paid the Italian Alps a visit to the Italian Alps in order to create a real-life, full-motion video recreation of the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit box art. In a mountain pass known as Passo di Falzarego (10 miles from Cortina D'Ampezzo), the Pagani Zonda Cinque and a police Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 were set in the scenery.

The view of the mountains looks amazing and the reason, that this scenery was chosen because of its resemblance to Seacrest County, only gives hope for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

Next NFS Hot Pursuit DLC announced: Super Sports Pack
Apparently a new premium DLC pack is in development for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit! As » Gamerzines reports, Electronic Arts announced the new DLC, which will contain brand new cars, events and achievements/trophies.

The ‘Super Sports Pack’, which is the fourth piece of premium DLC to be released so far for Criterion’s racer chaser, contains six new cars, including the Bugatti Veyron and Porsche 911 GT2, plus at least twelve new events across both the cop and racer careers.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit was also released on PC, but when it comes to DLCs, PC gamers are often left out. It's not likely to change, as a Developer posted the following at the » official EA forums:

Hey all, unfortunately we will not be releasing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit PDLC for the PC. While we are certainly committed to providing the best possible game experience and ongoing support for our PC community, (as you have already noted) we have a limited amount of resources that makes it so that we are unable to deliver new content to all platforms. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, but on the positive side we do have more updates and content on the way for PC players--look for news very soon.

The » SCPD Rebels Pack was released only for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and also the upcoming » Super Sports Pack is going to be consoles only.
Even the free DLC, which could've been released by winning the » One Million Challenge, would've been also only for consoles.
